Bite Adjustment |
Your bite is considered to be healthy when all or most of your teeth are present and not damaged or worn by normal daily use.
It is not normal for teeth to show wear or to be loose. Bite adjustment is a treatment option that helps restore a bite that can function without damage or destruction.
A bite adjustment may consist of one or more of the following:
Reshaping the biting surfaces of the teeth and eliminating spots of excessive pressures where the teeth are brought into contact. This will adjust bite pressures evenly across all of the teeth.
Bite guard therapy may be used to hold teeth that are loose in the proper position so that bone and soft tissue cells can reattach to the tooth. A custom fitted plastic bite guard to keep the teeth apart at night may be used to treat grinding (bruxism) and clenching.
Braces may be utilized to reposition misaligned or shifted teeth.
Old, worn out, or damaged fillings may need replacement.
Badly worn and damaged teeth may need restoration.
Missing teeth may be replaced with dental implants, removable or fixed bridges.
Dr. Ortiz-Ramsey and your dentist and/or orthodontist will work as a team to improve your situation and tailor an individual action plan to correct your bite.
